The quality control committee supervises the growing and cultivation of the persimon fruit to ensure the highest level of quality, taste and appearance. To achieve the Protected Designation of Origin 'Kaki Ribera del Xuquer' (D.O.)
the persimon must be of the 'Rojo Brillante' variety and have been grown by a registered farmer from the Ribera del Xuquer valley. The Protected Designation of Origin 'Kaki Ribera del Xuquer' is therefore an official certification, placed on each package with an official seal and serial number. This helps to guarantee the control of each harvest by the appropriate committee and therefore the consistently high quality of the fruit.

Something exotic from Valencia

The home of the persimon is the Valencia valley of Ribera del Xuquer. The fields and fruit groves of the river valley are amongst the most fertile in the Valencia region. Sun-kissed, the persimon trees have been flourishing here in the mild Mediterranean climate since the end of the 18 th century. With their glistening leaves and pale coloured fruit they used to be regarded as no more than ornamental plants, but were soon recognised for the exquisite, exotic taste of their fruit.

Due to the ideal growing conditions the trees remain free from all disease and the quality of the fruit is therefore unique. Furthermore, this is constantly guaranteed by the quality control committee, which was formed by the farmers for the Designation of Origin 'Kaki Ribera del Xuquer'.
