Foods from Spain unveils new look for 2008 integrated promotional campaign on fresh produce
May 13th, 2008
Foods from Spain has released details of its integrated campaign for fresh produce for 2008.

The campaign contains promotional activity on several of Spain’s leading products, including Picota cherries, plums, persimon, cherimoya and strawberries and raspberries, as well as a generic promotion across all Spanish produce. It features new creative work, introduces new elements to each campaign, and marks four years of integrated promotion in the category by Foods from Spain.

The Picota cherry campaign will include advertising in stores and retailers’ in house publications, as well as an in-pack information and recipe leaflet, on-pack promotions such as the highly popular ‘free bottle of Cava’ promotion, and public relations activity in the trade and consumer media.

Activity on plums, meanwhile, will include an in-pack recipe leaflet and public relations activity, while cherimoya and persimon - promoted from October - will feature demonstrations to consumer journalists by the Tapas Brindisa chef José Manuel Pizarro. The strawberry and raspberry campaign will feature consumer media activity including recipe development and advertorial articles.

The generic part of the campaign promotes all fresh Spanish fruit and vegetables. Following the success of the National Primary Schools Competition, which is running for the second year in 2008, Foods from Spain is launching a new competition to students on catering and hospitality courses, the overall winner of which will be offered a stage work placement at El Bulli, Restaurant magazine’s Best Restaurant in the World for the last three years.

María José Sevilla, director of Foods from Spain, said: “We are very proud to reveal the contents of our fresh produce promotion, which has become stronger in each year since it was launched. Using a well-targeted mixture of in-store and in-pack activity, combined with magazine advertisements and public relations, we are promoting Spain’s fantastic fresh produce on both an individual and a collective basis.

“We are also actively encouraging other Spanish fresh produce associations to join our integrated promotional effort in the UK. This could include anything from avocados or speciality salads, to pomegranate or loquats.”
